“I’m an IT Support Analyst II at an independent publishing company headquartered in Thousand Oaks, CA,” says Roman. “I’ve been here for about 3 months now. My role is to help maintain company operations and provide support to end users on a variety of differing issues.”
“I initially contacted Eric Kinsey who later referred me to Vichy Truong. Vichy assisted and coordinated the whole interview and hiring process. From the initial contact to the signing of the contract, everything only took two weeks, inclusive of one week where we were just waiting for the scheduled interview day. Superb turnaround time.”
“Roman came from a retail environment and adapted and excelled in his corporate support role,” says Recruiter, Vichy Truong. “He also mentors two additional candidates at his company and I’ve been told by them that he’s been a great leader and role model. He’s the type of person that fosters growth and development to everyone around him.”
“I really love what I do and I try to be better every day,” Roman says. “As they say, find a job that you enjoy doing and you’ll never feel like you’re working. And to be honest, that’s how I feel every single day. This job is a natural fit for my talents and interests. I guess it’s evident in my day-to-day work and colleagues have noticed. It feels good when you are making a difference early on. And it feels even better knowing that it doesn’t go unnoticed.”
Born and raised in the Philippines, Roman’s family moved to the US due to his father’s Navy career. “I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, and majored in Computer Science at De La Salle – College of St. Benilde in the Philippines. Prior to my current job, I worked at the Geek Squad where I gained a ton of experience.”
Outside of the office, this die-hard Laker fan spends his free time collecting figures, building Japanese models (Gunpla), watching anime, playing video games, reading comic books and manga, and spending quality time with his beautiful wife. As for his musical tastes, “I listen to a wide range of genres. I love the Smashing Pumpkins, Adele, Frank Sinatra, and Elton John,” he says with a smile. “I also love a good steak or Filipino and Japanese food. But really, I just love technology. Even outside of work I’m still the go-to guy for my friends and family when they have any computer or gadget-related questions.”
“I’ve been married for a year and a half now to my best friend and beautiful wife, Paula,” says Roman. “She works at the same company as me, as a Journals Production Editor. It’s funny because she learned about this job opportunity by chance while chatting with an IT Support colleague who was helping her fix her broken office computer. He later referred me to Recruiter, Eric Kinsey. It’s like a story of the ‘good’ coming out of a bad situation.” Some things were just meant to be.
