Native to beautiful Minnesota, Brian is the youngest of seven children. “I have 5 sisters and one brother. In my family growing up, we were always fighting over three things: food, attention, and which one of us were ‘mistakes,’” says Brian with a smirk. Graduating from the University of Minnesota with a bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Brian spent seven years in the advertising industry as a Copywriter before venturing into the recruitment of creative talent.
He and his beautiful wife Kristen have an adorable daughter, Presley, who will be 3 years old in December. “She’s a smart cookie and learning fast,” says Brian. “Like the other day, my wife used the expression ‘son of a gun,’ to which Presley said, ‘Don’t you mean son of a b*&%h?’”
In addition to his hilarious daughter, Brian’s family includes a Boston Terrier named Wink. “She has a bit of a farting problem though, so we’re considering changing her name to Stink.”
Before starting Crescent Creative, Brian was a Director at another creative staffing firm, Syndicatebleu, for 8 years. “I left Syndicatebleu to start Crescent Creative with Francis (Salenga) almost 3 years ago now. As the Managing Director, I manage all aspects of the business, drive sales, and recruit talent. It has been a challenging, yet fulfilling, experience so far.
Well known for being disciplined, focused, and driven, the purple belt jiu-jitsu practitioner is also famous for his fun-loving and competitive nature. “It’s no secret in the LA office that Vichy and I are highly competitive against each other in ping pong. Our matches are battles that are filled with scathing banter in an attempt to completely break down the other person mentally and physically. So Vichy might say to me between points, ‘Dude, you’re sweating… and gross. You have boob sweat!’ But that’s fine. I can take it. I would consider them sculpted pecs, but…whatever. And I’ll come back with, ‘What’s your name? Vicky?’ It’s just what you have to do when you’re in the zone.”
Recently relocating to Connecticut with his family, Brian is looking forward to the next phase of building Crescent Creative’s presence on both the east and west coast. “It’s great to experience real seasons again, but I’ll be visiting LA soon” he says. “2016 is shaping up to be a big year.”
